A letter to make a Difference....

So while I was trying to decide who to write to for our little assignment in Media---I came across a certain page on Facebook.... https://www.facebook.com/AMoreMoralAmerica

This is really cool--it is my sister's friend who started it, and she has 'challenges' of people to write to. There are currently 17 people who 'like' the page, and are hopefully taking the challenge as well. I wrote to Victoria's Secret, Provo Mall, and University Mall to tell them how I feel about their advertising outside of their store. Basically, I feel that the photos and advertising that they choose to use should be kept inside of the store where people actually have a choice whether to look at it or not.

I just got an email from Victoria's Secret saying that their goal is to have a personal email back to me in the next 24-hours...we'll see what they say!

I love the scriptures!

Sometimes we ... and when I say we I mean I....feel like there are so many things to be doing in life, and I don't read my scriptures like I should. Last night, I read Enos...and I was so glad that I did! He was a stud for sure. He was in the woods, and suddenly his father's words popped into his head, and he decided to start praying...(See? I told you!) Who really stops in the MIDDLE of doing something important, and prays for a remission of their sins? I love his example.

This verse was my very favorite:

13 And now behold, this was the desire which I desired of him—that if it should so be, that my people, the Nephites, should fall into transgression, and by any means be destroyed, and the Lamanites should not be destroyed, that the Lord God would preserve a record of my people, the Nephites; even if it so be by the power of his holy arm, that it might be brought forth at some future day unto the Lamanites, that, perhaps, they might be brought unto salvation—

The cool thing about it is that the Lord TOTALLY answered this prayer of Enos'! Maybe Enos had the Spirit, so he knew what the Lord's will was, and knew what to ask, or maybe he was just righteous enough to want what he knew the Lord would want as well! Pretty awesome that Enos prayed for the people to live about 800 years after him! If that doesn't build your faith, I don't know what will!!

Go Ahead...Draw Something!

First things first...I appologize for seeming slightly ADD in today's post...and in other aspects of my life....Today, my blog is about a new game that I have exposed myself to...and I would say it is rather addicting.

Draw Something! It's like pictionary with your friends. You take turns drawing for each other, and the other person has to guess what it is.

Funny thing about it is, I HATE drawing. I am horrible at it. But in this game, I actually feel like I am not too bad, and believe it or not, I get compliments that I have amazing pictures. I think it's just because I take my time.

Which is the next problem. I have spent so much time on this game that I should be doing something else! It was more last week that I was doing it a lot, this week has been better.

Jumping on ridiculously fast to my next point... I go through phases of things that I LOVE for a week or so, and then I'm over it. I have about 26 people waiting for me to take my turn...but I just can't get myself to do it.

I guess that is the rise and fall of my obsession with that game. What will be next? Who knows...

Hope. Believe. Endure.

Well...today my Blog title was taken from last year's EFY theme. I thought it was appropriate!

For my next blog, I've decided to give an update on my cousin!
He was transferred to a hospital which is said to be the top hospital in all of South America. There was a team of Neurosurgeons waiting there to take over his case. When he got there, he was not doing well and things didn't look good. However, yesterday he started doing better. He improved a lot, but is still in very serious condition. He is now out of the medically induced coma, but still on a ventilator (so still unconscious). His parents have been so touched by everyone's love, concern, and prayers.

It has been really neat for me to watch all of this happen. I don't know if anyone has looked at his blog, but it had about 7,000 views on Tuesday, and now it is up to 56,000. The coolest thing to me is that Britten continues to do missionary work! For example. We gave the blog address to one of my aunts from the other side of the family, who is not a member, and now she is able to read about all the things his parents are writing about, and all the people who are praying and commenting on the page! We are excited to see what kinds of seeds that plants for her.

All in all...I am in amazement at what the media can do today. It is such a blessing in situations like this! It is definitely no wonder why Satan would want something so good to be clouded by such disgusting and vulgar perceptions/uses.

I know that Christ lives, and I pledge to always use the media in a way that would be pleasing to Him.

Thank you all for your prayers for my cousin!! We have a good outlook. His mother's faith is extremely touching. If you haven't had a chance to look, go ahead!

Elder Britten Schenk

Today, I could not be more grateful for the blessing of media. We heard on Saturday morning that my cousin, Britten Schenk, a missionary in Sau Paulo, Brasil, was hit by a bus on Friday evening, and he is in the hospital in critical condition with about a 40% chance of life. Right now, he is in a medically induced coma, which is supposed to help his body recover more quickly, and have less trauma.

Without the advanced media that we have at this time, his parents and family, and EVERYONE who has been praying for him for the last 4 days may still not know of his condition. Word has been spread so quickly, and almost instantly, hundreds, maybe even thousands have been praying for him, and his family has felt the love and blessings poured out to them from our Heavenly Father.

In another reach out, I am using my blog to reach out to each of you to ask if you will please include him in your prayers.

If you would like to keep updated on Elder Schenk, feel free to read this blog: http://www.elderbrittenschenk.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your support!

Tired. Of. Stuff.

Blah! I am getting the feeling that I am starting to get worn out. Other than a few things that are pretty entertaining for me like some of my shows and news radio, I am still just feeling a bit bogged down by the world!

I guess this is when we cleave to the things that the Lord has given us to help us get through times that are hard.

Mosiah 24:14-16

14 And I will also ease the aburdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand asbwitnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their cafflictions.

15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord didastrengthen them that they could bear up their bburdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with cpatience to all the will of the Lord.

16 And it came to pass that so great was their faith and their patience that the voice of the Lord came unto them again, saying: Be of good comfort, for on the morrow I will deliver you out of bondage.

KSL News Radio

Well, lately my favorite form of media is KSL news radio. I just feel like there is a lot going on in the world around me that perhaps I have not been so privy to previously. So, my fiance likes to make fun of me and tell me that I'm becoming a gramma...and it doesn't help that I frequently want to go to bed at 9 pm!

I wish that there were some news stations that you were positive they were giving the right information...how do you know that what they are telling you isn't what they want us to believe! What if it's all just a conspiracy?!
